Dear all, writing this in wonderful late Sunday afternoon warmth.
I celebrated Communion in the garden again today and I am learning to truly love it.
It felt very apt preaching on the Parable of the Sower in a garden outside!
The church continues to be open for prayer and a new vibrant poster has gone up about our digital worship underneath the poster on the corner of Stanley Lane, on Eastham Village Road and also outside the Church Centre.
Our holiday provision, funded entirely by Edsential, is now being put in place. Further details will follow next week but below are the arrangements so far.
This is instead of the Holiday Club and Munch Club and is an entirely outdoor provision.
A marquee will be erected in the Church Centre car park as a focal point for people to pick up picnic bags, with activities and woodland trails for families on Monday and Fridays from 11.00 am till 12 noon on those days. Anyone can come in and pick up a picnic but they will need to book one for catering purposes!
Wednesday outdoor activities will be in my garden from 11.00 am till 1.00 pm
To date, we have booked in Circus Skills…dance, football and exercise workshops, Forest School organised by the Rangers, and outdoor garden games.
I will need help please putting picnics together and making sandwiches for the Monday and Friday and some help on Wednesday as well.
I have a trusty team around me, Julie Boyes, Nikki Mathews, Jean Cullen, Sue and Irene.
If you can help in any way please call Jean on 327 3317.
I have deliberately structured this because, as Julie and Nikki say, many children have not socialised for months, not been to school and may have spent too long digitally (for many reasons)
I feel so privileged to be working with so many partner agencies on behalf of the Eastham Community and beyond!
I am considering now opening the church for Communion on Wednesday at 10.15 am but I know that many people are still very reluctant to leave their homes. I will discuss this with my Staff this week.
Money continues to come in to me in lieu of weekly giving. We are going to move as well to an online giving page but we do need to replan and rethink. Could I please beg (!) as many of you as possible to move to Standing Order to help us budget?
We had a wonderful parish quiz night organised by Karen which was such fun…we have a virtual Bible Study on Hebrews on Wednesday evenings at 7.00 pm (all welcome) and a church family WhatsApp as well!
